AMS Racing Presents "Duel in the Desert 7", February 1st and 2nd, 2003.
This is the biggest Vintage event to come to Arizona. AMS Racing and SpeedWorld are hosting a two day event featuring Vintage MX racers from all over the world. Racers from as far as Italy, England, and Spain will be competing. MX legend Jim Pomeroy will be coming out of retirement to compete against MX World Champion Brad Lackey, along with several ex-pro racers. This event promises to be one to remember.
The weekend will start on Saturday Morning with the Post-Vintage National Season Opener. This is for bikes from 1975 through about 1982. Several classes and skills levels will compete on Speedworld's national track. Right after lunch, vintage trials competition will take place using the area around the AMS track. Trails bikes from as early as the 60's will compete on a tight course testing the skill and balance of the riders.
Sunday will see the Vintage National Season opener. This will be a full day event with as many as 500 competitors from around the world. Bikes will range from the 60s to 1974ish with several classes and rider skill levels competing on Speedworld's national track.
This event only comes once a year to Arizona, so don't miss it. It will be well worth the time seeing and talking to the racers that made MX great in the US of A.
